about us
We are a shop dedicated to ikebana (the art of Japanese flower arrangement)...dedicated to the promotion of ikebana in our adopted home, Halifax NS.
We have three major activities:
(1) lessons, demonstrations & workshops;
(2) arrangement services; and
(3) a retail store.
We bring a taste of the Japanese aesthetic to Halifax. Please drop by for some relaxed shopping.
the ikebana shop is the name of the shop. mirochi is the name of the company that owns the shop. mirochi is the husband-and-wife team of Miyako and Ferdinand Ballesteros. The idea for a Japanese flower arrangement service started with Miyako’s desire to share her passion for ikebana to their new hometown of Halifax. All she wanted to do is to keep making ikebana creations. Ferdinand, having some time in his hands, decided to make a small business out of it.

Our logo is a flower surfing on a raindrop. It reminds us to keep looking up no matter what. Click here for a little hidden trivia about our logo.

Miyako is the artist. She sees flowing curves and lines everywhere! Her other passions are hand-crafts, cooking and etegami.

Ferdinand just makes sure everything else is running smoothly. He also maintains a blog: The Halifax Immigrant.
