Bizen pottery

Bizen pottery traces its origins to the 12th century and is one of the 6 remaining kilns of medieval Japan. It is wood-fired slowly over a long period of time (10-14 days) resulting in organic, earthy pieces. The clay used is specific to the Bizen area and is fired unglazed.

All our pieces are hand-made and all, of course, come from Bizen (Okayama, Japan).
